The Thai foodies team were SO thrilled to be invited to check out two of the SO Sofitel Bangkok’s hottest wine and dine venues – The HI-SO Rooftop Bar and Park Society both located on the 29th floor and both affording spectacular views of Bangkok along with stylish potables and divine eats.
Check our video review of HI-SO Rooftop Bar and Park Society Restaurant.
We started out evening on the HI-SO Rooftop Bar. This is a large open air space that provides guests stellar views of Lumpini Park and the skyscrapers of metropolitan Bangkok. Cooling breezes flow nicely around visitors who can lounge on the comfy sofas and chairs whilst listening to chill beats and sipping the HI-SO Rooftop Bar’s signature cocktails and sampling some of the light fare on offer.
Babe and I went for a colorful couple of cocktails in the Dragon Caprioska and the Lychee Rose Petal – both fruity concoctions that go down smooth on a warm Bangkok evening. SO good and SO relaxing!
The food menu at HI-SO Rooftop Bar is SO enticing and Babe quickly selected three dishes that had our mouths watering in anticipation. A heart-healthy Salmon and Avocado Salad, a spicy bowl of Deep Fried Minced Pork with Thai herbs and a Half Rack of BBQ Pork Ribs served with mustard, BBQ sauce and fries.
The salmon salad is a light dish perfect for those who wish want to keep their diets healthy featuring fresh, raw salmon, and crisp garden greens – SO fresh!
The deep fried minced pork or ” Larb Thord” is a Thai favorite and SO Sofitel does a great job keeping the dish authentic and not pulling any punches with the seasoning – SO spicy.
Our last dish was a half rack of pork ribs, cooked to perfection and slathered in sweet BBQ sauce, SO tender it falls right off the bone. All three dishes were SO yummy but we recommend the Pork Ribs as a Must Try – JUST SO GOOD!
We bade goodbye HI-SO Rooftop Bar as the evening crowd started to shuffle in and made our way into the SO elegant and SO cool Park Society Restaurant for a taste of fine dining with a Six Course meal! Park Society is a chic space featuring floor to ceiling windows providing breathtaking views of the Bangkok skyline. Please do watch our video review to get the full impact of the posh design of Park Society!
Park Society is SO impressive and the perfect destination for that oh SO important business dinner or an oh SO romantic meal with your special someone.
Our six course meal included raw Amberjack, a Thai-style Lobster Bisque (East Meets West), Hokkaido Scallop, Majestic Oyster, Wagyu Striploin, and Valrhona Chocolate. SO Impressive!
Our first dish was a raw Ameberjack with lemon dressing, cheese and cucumber. This was the first time I tried Amberjeck and I loved it. A delicate fish with a mild flavor and no smell, the lemon dressing, Stracciatella cheese, Wakame, Sesame and Cucumber makes for a memorable combination. I’ll SO order this again!
Our Lobster Bisque (East Meets West) was out next and the presentation is SO cool with an herb and spice infuser used to instill a decidedly Thai flavor into a traditional Lobster Bisque – SO Thai and SO delicious.
Next up our Hokkaido Scallop. A large sea scallop covered in decadent Beurre Noisette accompanied by a pumpkin medley - SO sophisticated! Tender, sweet and perfectly prepared with French butter sauce, if you like scallops you will SO love this winner at Park Society. We were SO tempted to have another as it was SO good but we needed to save some room for what was up next!
Babe was SO happy that the six course menu included a Majestic Oyster. Fans of our reviews know that Babe loves her oysters and the Majestic Oyster was, well…..Majestic! Prepared with Panzu, Green Curry and Wakame the Majestic Oyster at Park Society is a bold, eastern take on traditional oysters – SO inspired - Babe gives this Oyster dish her approval - according to her - “MMM, MMMM, OMG it’s good!”
Our last entrée of the evening was a Wagyu Striplion with Gnocchi, Carrot, Leek with a Truffle Sauce. I just love Wagyu Beef SO I was SO very excited to dig into this heart stopper. The beef was perfect, tender and bursting with flavor, the truffle sauce accenting not overpowering the dish. I felt SO guilty but the diet can start tomorrow!
Dessert was a Valrhona Chocolate plate straight from the Chocolab Café at the SO Sofitel Bangkok. A complex dish of different chocolate tastes and textures, chocolate fans will go SO crazy for this one. We did!
We cannot recommend a trip to SO Sofitel Bangkok enough whether you are visiting HI-SO Rooftop Bar with friends for a cocktail after work or celebrating at Park Society with your loved ones, a memorable experience is guaranteed. We suggest booking for both venues as they can get busy – give the SO Sofitel a call to get the best table.
You’ll SO thank us!
