Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi's Golden Village Chinese Restaurant - Majestic Chinese Cuisine
We like to tell anyone who will listen that while Thai cuisine in Thailand is of course amazing with Bangkok being the best place to sample Thai food, the Big Mango is also the best place for foodies who wish to sample amazing and authentic cuisines from around the world. To that end we visited Golden Village Chinese Restaurant to sample the food at what intrepid Food Critic Babe names of her favourite Chinese restaurants in Thailand. Here's a hint - you should listen to her :)
Located just inside the lobby of the Novotel is Golden Village. As soon as you enter the elegant dining room you just know that you are in for a real treat! In addition to a large, main dining room Golden Village also has private rooms suitable for large private parties! A great place for a large gathering of friends and family!

A majestic setting that evokes the splendour of Imperial China. Wood-panelled doors, hand-painted ceramics, fine china and glittering chandeliers. The menu displays the original classics alongside signature Cantonese recipes. Peking Duck, seafood hotpots, dim sum and a range of regional dishes prepared by Chef Prasit Jariyayothin, who has garnered more than a decade of experience in the kitchens of many 5-star hotels.

Our first couple of dishes were yummy appetisers - Fried Tofu Wrapped Prawn and Fried Prawn Spring Roll. The prawn in both these dishes was SOOO fresh and lovely. While both dishes are deep fried we didn't find them oily at all - both were light and super crispy.
We decided to sample a couple of always popular Dim Sum dishes next opting for the Steamed Minced Pork with Prawn and Steamed Prawn dumpling. Both were so delicious and we could instantly tell that these were made to order being so fresh and yummy!
We sampled next a piping hot bowl of Fish Soup that had the most incredible aroma of fresh lemongrass and an absolutely light and fresh flavor - A Must Try!
Then came the the highlight of the entire evening, an incredible Beijing Roasted Duck served with Chinese Crepes. A variation of Peking Duck, crispy dick skin wrapped in a thin Chinese crepe with a sweet sauce, onion and chili. Perfect! You MUST TRY this dish at Golden Village it is AMAZING.
The impressive fare just kept coming we were next served a Pan Fried Pork Loin with Chinese Steak Sauce. The pork was very tender and well marinated with a subtle sauce that accented the wonderful pork flavor not at all overpowering the dish. Another MUST TRY!
After a couple rather heavy dishes we sampled a lovely and light Braised Chinese Cabbage. The perfect way to switch gears to move onto our next main entree.
Thai River Prawns in XO Sauce with Egg Noodle was next up and what a delicious way to eat fresh Thai River Prawns! We just love a good XO sauce and Golden Village does a great job! The egg noodles make for a great way to round out this yummy dish and yes this is ANOTHER MUST TRY!
Our last entree for the evening was Deep Fried Beijing Duck with Chinese herbs. This was the duck meat from our Beijing Duck earlier in the meal. The duck meat although fried was not at all oily. Served with a mixture of herbs, spicies and fresh lettuce it is surprisingly light and delicious. A perfect way to segue into our dessert!
Chinese meals can be marathons of amazing food and our experience at Golden Village was proof to that. We were ready for something light and refreshing after so many great Chinese dishes so the Chilled Honeydew melon and Sage served in crushed ice was PERFECT!
We had a wonderful experience at Golden Village at Novotel Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Hotel and encourage anyone who is in the area or finds themselves with some time either coming into or leaving Thailand to take the quick 5 minute walk fro the airport and stop by Golden Village for Authentic Chinese Cuisine - You'll thank us!
