"A FABULOUS HAUTE COUTURE EXPERIENCE IN THE HEART OF SUKHUMVIT FEATURING FIVE-STAR SERVICE"
From the Dream Hotel Bangkok Website
Sheathed in glass and bathed in a glow of neons – blues, greens, oranges, pinks – the surrealistic avant-garde exterior of Dream Bangkok earns an immediate second glance. Located down a quiet soi (side street), our hotel in the heart of Thailand’s capital displays hedonism at its finest with all the pleasures of fashion, entertainment and nightlife only steps away. (Which will you indulge first?)
Inside, an ultra-modern aesthetic delights with the stuff of dreams: traditional wai greetings, artful chedi bells and mosaic cubic architecture in a hypnotic lobby that is part high-style catwalk. Guests can go all night (and all day), amidst an eye-popping playscape of Eastern drama and Western whimsy at the ever-so-fun rooftop pool, a Dali-esque restaurant, trendy nightclub or full-service spa. And when the time comes, our nearly 200 accommodations become a welcome haven, providing luxurious amenities and intuitive service.
Like Bangkok itself, Dream is a location that might even warrant a little misbehavior – but that’s up to you. And don’t worry, we’ll never tell (if you don’t).
Check out our Video Review of Flava Restaurant and Lounge below:
We started out with two wonderful potables in the Sly Thai and Love Triangle. The Sly Thai is a refreshing mix of vodka lime that is easy to drink while keeping the palate fresh. The Love Triangle we tried was a light cranberry mock tail that perfectly quenches the thirst for those who wish to sip without alcohol. The Flava Lounge is a cool space featuring an eye catching Haute Couture design that despite being chaotic is nonetheless relaxing when absorbed completely. Featuring low, comfortable couches and table the Flava Lounge is a chill destination for afterwork drinks or a weekend get together with friends. Don't miss the in house DJ on Fridays and Saturdays. Don't mind the pink leopard either - he's a sweetheart.
On to the food!
We decided to focus on Thai food for this visit so we selected a variety of popular Thai dishes that should appeal to local and visitors alike. Be sure to watch our video review above to get our reactions to the cuisine! and prices.
We started with Moo Tord, Deep fried Pork Belly served with a Cucumber Som Tum, an unusual but awesome dish that we tried for the very first time at Flava!
Next up the uber popular Krapow Moo Sap, stir fried pork with basil - this is one of the most popular dishes in Thailand. If you haven't had a chance to try this spicy wonder you should do so with all haste!
Pad Thai baby! We tried the most popular Thai dish in the world with prawn and it was scrumptious! The prawn was tender and fresh spoonfuls of soft rice noodles, egg and tiny bits of peanuts.... Heaven!
A popular, less spicy variant of the famous Tom Yum Gong we next tried Tom Kha Gai - Coconut Soup with Chicken - served in a real coconut! This creamy delight is filled with tender bites of chicken in a wonderful lemongrass scented coconut milk soup. A personal favourite....
Lastly we dug into a Thai set meal. Flava is offering 4 different sets featuring cuisine from different parts of Thailand. They have a Southern, Central, Northern, and lastly a Northeastern set which we decided to try. The northeastern set contains Lemongrass soup, Curry Fishcake, Khao Soy with Chicken, and Issan Sausage with sticky rice and crispy fired pork skin. The taste is authentic and yummy. Each set is enough for at least two people - a great value!
We wrapped up with two very Thai desserts - Coconut Ice cream and of course mango and Sticky rice! The ice cream was served in a chilled fresh coconut and topped with coconut meat, the mango and sticky rice was delightful with sweet ripe mango. If you haven't tried these Thai treats you MUST as they are memorable!
We had a great time at Flava and plan a repeat, nighttime visit, to bring you a taste of the lounge when it is rocking with a live DJ!
