Anantara Sathorn Hotel Bangkok's 360º International Seafood Buffet at Zoom Sky Lounge - Gourmet
Buffets have become increasingly popular in Thailand over the past few years and competition fierce with almost every major hotel in Bangkok offering a weekend buffet featuring a variety of gastronomic delights. It can be a challenge to differentiate one buffet from another but once in awhile the team does discover a buffet that stands out from the crowd. The brand new International Seafood Buffet every Friday and Saturday buffet from 7PM to 10:30 PM at the Zoom Sky Lounge in the Anantara Sathorn Bangkok Hotel is just such a discovery. At just 1,199++ baht per person "Come 4 Pay 3" or 1,699 Baht ++ with free flow wine or beer this buffet is an unbelievable value.
The Thaifoodies team were invited to the Anantara Sathorn Bangkok Hotel on the opening night of the new International Seafood Buffet with our good friend from Aroii. The new buffet is located on 38th floor in what is usually the Executive Club Lounge which has wonderful 360 degree views of sprawling Bangkok meaning no matter where you sit you are guaranteed to have a wonderful view while enjoying your meal.
Unlike most buffets the myriad of food on offer is presented full circle around the entire floor. This layout breaks up the usual traffic jams that inevitably happen at straight line buffets. This means as well that the seating is spread out and very comfortable. The Anantara Sathorn features small intimate tables as well as comfy couches for large groups of family or friends. Sip some wine, sample the great food and chill out to the live music featured every Friday and Saturday evening.
The selection we enjoyed on the opening night was impressive. Chef Gibb was kind enough to walk the team through the buffet explaining his vision for his choices. Fresh breads, prime cold cuts and soups including Lobster Bisque are all here to get your appetite going! Be sure to hit the Pasta station where you can order any type of pasta you love, cooked to order. Chef Gibb also alternates Risotto dishes - we had a scrumptious Parmesan mushroom risotto that was to die for...
Chef Gibb's passion for fresh, sustainable and organic and ingredients is impressive. The salad section features fresh produce from an organic farm in Hua Hin brought in daily. The impressive seafood selection will satisfy the most avid seafood lover with Blue, Brown and Snow Crab. River prawn Fin De Claire No 4 Oysters, Bouchet Mussels, and Slipper Lobster. Each table also gets a whole lobster prepared to taste! We enjoyed our lobster reped with XO sauce - so good!
But the selection does not end with seafood! This amazing buffet features Roast Duck!
Australian Tomahawk with 3 different kinds of mustard - A must try - so good!
And a selection of prime Beef, pork, Salmon, Italian sausage that are Grilled "Barbeque Style" to order - a wonderful option that many buffets do not feature. Try the Beef Ribeye and Italian Sausage so yummy!
Although an International Seafood Buffet the Zoom Sky Lounge also features a wonderful Thai section featuring your favorite curries, salads, and local rices..
No buffet would be complete without dessert. The Anantara Sathorn features an impressive dessert selection of cakes, Nitrogen Ice Cream - so cool, fresh local fruits and 2 chocolate fountains!
This incredible offer is only available on the weekends so be sure to plan ahead and book your table now as evening on the opening night this buffet was very busy.
